COURSE INTRODUCTION

Street photography is one of the most practical and INS styles. During the course, you can get a good command of useful methods and skills to be able to take pictures on streets with visional attraction. Students can learn photography through both classes studying and practices. Furthermore, we organize several discussions for students about different relevant topics, like favorite methods and skills used by famous photographers, some tips when photographing strangers, how to identify a successful street photographic work, and how to stimulate your shooting inspiration. At the end of the course, you will complete a series of attractive photographs for a portfolio about the first impression of New York, which meets your target and expectation.

The purpose of the course is to help you to learn how to create emotion for a picture, and to improve the composition of a photo through different vision elements. Students will have a discussion, how to find interesting and attracting points, during photography. After 10-hour-learning, students can not only know how to figure out all relevant parameters of their camera through more advanced technologies, such as custom white balance, lightning mode, light modifiers, flashlight, bulb mode and HDR. But they can also learn how to composite, sort and take a meaningful picture. Various combinations of technologies can be leaned here, like use of lines, curves and the color theory.

Afternoon: Appreciation Lesson of MOMA photographic works.

【Day 2】

Morning: Digital photography in the New York Photograph School

Afternoon: Photograph ‘Hudson Yards’, which is the popular landmark in New York, and visit famous art blocks. For example, high line park, Chelsea Market, Chelsea Art Galleries, Whitney Museum of American Art.

Night: Roof top private event

【Day 3】

Morning: Digital photography in the New York Photograph School

Afternoon: Photographic practice, called ‘New York is photographed from every angle’, in popular landmarks with INS style, like Dumbo, Williamsburg, Bushwich Collective.

【Day 4】

Morning: Skills of outdoor person photography in Central Park, and greensward lunch.

Afternoon: Western artistic history at Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Night: Visit Hudson River, or enjoy the night view of Manhattan at Rockefeller Sightseeing Stand.

【Day 5】

Morning: Visit Columbia University and its photographic studio.

Afternoon: Street photography course IV with New York starstruck handbook or classic street photography route, like SOHU, Tribeca, West Village, Westfield World Trade Center.

【Day 6】

Morning: Visit Columbia University and its photographic studio. Street photography course V, and make a photographic portfolio about ‘The first impression of New York’.

Afternoon: Visit the Fifth Avenue, and appreciate photographic works in galleries on the Park Avenue.
